For four years in a row, Waiheke High School students have reached the finals of the National Young Designer’s Award. Young Designers such as Florence Legg-Bagg, Year 11(Finalist in Evening Wear-Intermediate in the Bernina Secondary Schools’ Young Designer Awards); Lucy Bennett,Year 11(First place in Sportswear/Leisurewear-Intermediate in the Bernina Secondary Schools’ Young Designer Awards).
As a relatively small school, we are able to get to know our students and their families well. Comprehensive student support services include a counsellor and youth health worker, school nurse, and access to other professional services. The school’s anti-bullying programme includes students at all levels assisting as contact people and mediators, and we have a strong peer sexuality support team.
