Sports at Waiheke High

We believe that sport gives our Waiheke High School students a chance to be fit, active and social within our school sporting codes and timetables.

Sport Basketball

For some students, it means participating in something new with friends or as individuals. For others, it means training hard to excel in their sport to take their abilities further.

Either way, Waiheke High School aims to offer students options to enjoy sport in a recreational or competitive way – giving students those valuable life skills of discipline, sporting skills, commitment, a positive attitude and leadership, as well as having a sense of belonging.

We offer internal school sports competitions throughout the year, and also take teams and individuals over to Auckland to compete in central zone (years 7 and 8) and College Sport (years 9-13) one day tournaments and season leagues.

Sports Timetable

At the beginning of every term, we update and launch our term sports timetable. Students will see a huge variety of different sports offered before, during and after school.

Some of the sports are aimed at specific sport teams – such as the girls football practices, while most are open to all students or to a wide age group. Most of these activities are free and are part of what we do at Waiheke High School.

We occasionally offer extra sports tuition or experiences – such as tennis lessons or swimming lessons – which requires payment as we are bringing in an outside specialist. Students can find out about these extra sport coaching sessions through our assemblies, school notices, social media and communication to home.
