As the library administrator here at Waiheke High School, and also a musician, it was so very wonderful to see a courageous and wildly talented bunch of students performing this June – in our very own version of a Tiny Desk concert (if you don’t know about Tiny Desk concerts on npr, check them out on YouTube here >>).
The library made the perfect venue for the concert – a small and friendly space – made beautiful with soft lighting and good vibes. Everyone did so very well – it’s not easy being up there – for some students performing for the very first time, and on camera too, so that they are recorded fpor their assessments.
Huge kudos to our music teacher extraordinaire, Gareth Moore, for supporting, encouraging and upskilling our music students, and giving them the joy of playing, singing and creating. Thank you too to the whanau and friends who came along to be part of the evening – all so supportive.
Here are some photos below from the performances (the lights were low so the photo quality isn’t great, but you’ll get a sense of the evening). We’ll have another one soon – watch this space!
